Seventeen technical and vocational education and training (TVET) stakeholders from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia visited UNESCO-UNEVOC to learn more about the International Centre’s activities, with a particular emphasis on the UNEVOC Network and the online services.
The delegation’s visit, accompanied by staff from the University of Magdeburg, was part of GIZ’ International Leadership Program “Master Trainer in TVET”. The delegation was received by Jens Liebe, Senior Programme Expert, and Wouter de Regt, Programme Assistant. Following a short presentation of the diverse range of transformational projects the visitors are working on as part of their course, the UNEVOC presentation emphasized and explained the links between the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and TVET, as well as UNESCO’s contributions to transforming TVET for sustainable development through the UNESCO Strategy for TVET for the period 2016-2021. Specifically, UNESCO-UNEVOC’s Leadership Programme and activities related to Greening TVET were used as examples to highlight UNESCO-UNEVOC’s work which seeks to empower individuals and communities to become change actors.
Brief explanations of the various online services provided an insight into the different platforms UNESCO-UNEVOC’s offers to share knowledge and experiences. In particular, the participants were invited to join the TVeT Forum as a potential means through which they could discuss ways of improving the TVET system in their countries.
