The UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training is UNESCO’s only specialized centre for technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and an integral component of UNESCO’s international programme on TVET. Through its capacity development programmes, collaborative projects and global UNEVOC Network, UNESCO-UNEVOC advocates for quality TVET that is accessible for all.

Medium-term strategy 2024-2026

Technical and vocational education and training plays a key role in ensuring equitable, sustainable and peaceful development. The UNESCO-UNEVOC medium-term strategy 2024-2026 — Elevating TVET for a just and sustainable future for all — lays the groundwork to support Member States in empowering youth and adults with the skills for employment, decent work, entrepreneurship and global citizenship, while providing flexible pathways to lifelong learning opportunities for all. These actions contribute directly to the UNESCO strategy for TVET 2022-2029 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Through partnerships with international organizations, governments, UNEVOC Centres, the private sector and TVET stakeholders, UNESCO-UNEVOC is implementing a transformative TVET agenda that recognizes the impact of a green and digital future and the need for reskilling and upskilling of the workforce to keep pace with changing global trends.

UNESCO strategy for TVET 2022-2029

The UNESCO strategy for TVET 2022-2029 was officially launched at a hybrid international conference in Bonn, Germany on 25-26 October 2022. The strategy presents UNESCO's vision to transform TVET for successful and just transitions during the period 2022 to 2029, by promoting skills development for empowerment, productive employment and decent work, and facilitate the transition to more digital, green and inclusive economies and societies.

UNESCO will support Member States to respond to current and future challenges in TVET, proposing three main priorities: develop skills for all individuals to learn, work and live; develop skills for inclusive and sustainable economies; and develop skills for inclusive and peaceful societies.

SDG 4: Quality Education

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted in New York in September 2015, seek to realize inclusive and equitable economic, social and environmental sustainable development. The agenda contains 17 goals including a global education goal (SDG 4). SDG 4 is to 'ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all’ and has seven targets and three means of implementation. Our Network

The UNEVOC Network is UNESCO’s global network for institutions specialized in technical and vocational education and training (TVET). The Network is comprised of more than 230 UNEVOC Centres in 150 Member States across 5 regions:

Coordinated by UNESCO-UNEVOC, the Network provides a platform for exchange, cooperation and mutual assistance for its members by linking and fostering interaction and learning among diverse TVET institutions and stakeholders around the world. We at the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre undertake our activities through this knowledge-rich and extensive community.
