Issue #17 - April 2024

Dear Readers,

The transition to a just and sustainable future for all requires inclusive learning environments that foster innovative mindsets and contribute to positive social change. It also demands a redoubling of collective efforts to address the increasingly complex challenges that affect our world.

Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) plays a key role in tackling these challenges. As such, the new UNESCO-UNEVOC medium-term strategy for 2024 to 2026 lays out a roadmap to support Member States in empowering youth and adults with the skills for employment, decent work, entrepreneurship and global citizenship, while providing flexible pathways to lifelong learning opportunities for all. These actions will contribute directly to the UNESCO strategy for TVET for 2022 to 2029 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

By partnering with international organizations, governments, UNEVOC Centres, the private sector and TVET stakeholders, UNESCO-UNEVOC will implement a transformative TVET agenda that recognizes the impact of a green and digital future and the need for reskilling and upskilling of the workforce to keep pace with changing global trends.

We look forward to working together to implement new flagship programmes of UNESCO-UNEVOC that will elevate the quality, relevance and accessibility of TVET over the next three years.

Best wishes from the UNESCO-UNEVOC team
